Who is needed - Everyone

Why is signing up now important? In previous disasters, such as 9/11 and hurricane Katrina, local officials were overwhelmed and needed help. Volunteers arriving at the incident site, without being trained, without known credentials or without being affiliated with an organization, often hurt instead of help recovery efforts despite their best intentions. Counties experiencing  disaster situations need pre-credentialed, screened and trained volunteers.

WHAT IS MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS

The MRC is a national program with a local community-based emphasis. Its mission is to support community efforts to utilize local medical and non-medical volunteers during emergencies and at other times of community need.

The MRC units serve local needs, are community-based and function as a way to locally organize and utilize volunteers who want to donate their time and expertise to promote healthy living throughout the year and to prepare for and respond to emergencies. MRC volunteers supplement existing local emergency and public health resources
